2022 Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation Impact Report: 2.6M Kids Reached, $11.7M Raised

2022 was a record year for joy

In 2022, the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation reached more than 2.6 million kids through 650+ national and regional grants across 43 states, thanks to the generosity of Dunkin’ franchisees, crew members, employees, vendor partners, and guests.

Just as important, communities came back together in a big way. After two years of limited in-person activity, supporters returned to galas, dinners, golf tournaments, and local events, helping the Foundation raise $11.7 million to support children battling hunger or illness.

Fighting childhood hunger with community-led grants

Providing food security takes more than one approach, so the Foundation funded a broad mix of hunger-relief partners, and continued deep collaboration with Feeding America.

Highlights from 2022 hunger impact included:

  • $1.5 million donated to Feeding America

  • A $500,000 grant supporting Feeding America’s Order Ahead model at 10 food banks, designed to offer convenient, dignified food access for families

  • A Giving Tuesday match up to $1 million, helping provide the equivalent of 20 million meals

Expanding joy for kids battling illness through signature programs

In 2022, the Foundation continued scaling the programs that bring comfort, connection, and joy inside pediatric care settings.

Signature program progress in 2022 included:

  • Dogs for Joy: funded 8 new grants, bringing the total to 35 dogs in 23 hospitals since launch

  • Dunkin’ Prom: funded 16 proms for teen patients (46 total since 2019)

  • Dunkin’ Connecting Joy: funded 12 grants in 2022 (14 total since 2021), including a national gaming tournament that brought play and connection directly to patients

  • New in 2022: Dunkin’ Joyful Spaces: launched as a national signature program, funding 6 projects such as healing gardens, play spaces, and teen rooms

Fundraising programs that powered local impact

2022 was also a standout year for in-restaurant fundraising and franchisee-led momentum.

National in-restaurant fundraisers (2022):

  • Dunkin’ Iced Coffee Day: raised $1.8 million in its first national execution, funding 91 grants to children’s hospitals in 34 states, with proceeds staying local

  • Sprinkle Cheer for Kids: raised $1.8 million

  • Dunkin’ x BARK: continued to grow awareness and support through Dunkin’-themed dog toys benefiting the Foundation

Across events and campaigns, the Foundation’s work remained grounded in what makes it special: local people rallying for local kids.

Thank you for being All In for Joy
